The Memorial Fund was established in 1938, established as The Women’s Auxiliary Memorial Bed at the Good Samaritan Hospital with an endowment of $20,000. In 1954, the hospital could no longer fulfill their contract and the monies were returned to the Women’s Auxiliary. At the recommendation of Bishop Bloy, the monies were invested in the Diocesan Investment Trust. Today the monies are used to fund the Medical Ministry Grant and the Emergency Medical Grant awards. It is also used to provide scholarships for those who are in need to attend conventions and other ECW events.

The Memorial Fund continues today through interest on the endowment and donations from Individuals, Parishes or Missions, often made in lieu of flowers for funerals.

When a donation of $25.00 or more is sent, the name of the deceased is entered into the Book of Remembrance of the Diocese of Los Angeles. If you would like to have a loved one remembered, please complete The Memorial Fund Application, print it and submit it with your check to:
